HOW TO APPLY FOR A RUSSIAN VISA

GENERAL RULES

1. The Visa Section of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Mumbai is located at the following address: 42, L. Jagmohandas Marg (old Nepean Sea Road), Mumbai ľ 400 036. It is situated in the Malabar Hill area, in the same side of the road as the Priyadarshini Park, exactly opposite Matru Ashish building. The nearest railway station is the ôGrand Roadö.

2. An applicant can submit the documents for the Russian visa at the Visa Section of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation only during working hours: on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 to 12:00 only.

On non-working days of the Visa Section the documents are not accepted.

3.The Visa Section of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Mumbai accepts documents for Russian visa only from the residents of its consular district, which comprises the following states: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Daman & Diu and Goa.

Documents of the residents of any other states except from those mentioned above are not accepted under any circumstances.

4. An applicant should come only personally for submission of the documents for a Russian visa.

Documents from agents/representativesw/authorized persons are not accepted under any circumstance

Presence of babies or infants in arms is not required.

5. Collection of the passports with ready visas takes place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12:00.á A person, who is going to collect the passport, should carry along a receipt, given by the Cashier of the Visa Section after paying the visa fee.

5. An applicant pays the charges for visa at the moment of submission only. The consular fee is paid in cash only.

DD and plastic cards are not accepted.

6. In case of denial of the Consulate General to issue a visa there is no refund of the paid money.

7.The Consulate General has the right to reject the visa case without any further explanations.

8. A multiple entry visa allows a person to stay continuously in the territory of the Russian Federation only for 90 days within each period of 180 days.

9. An applicant should check the receipt after making the payment. The receipt contains the amount paid for processing the case and the date of the collection of the passport.

10. Ready visa details should be checked on the spot only at the moment of collection. In case if any mistakes are found out later all the corrections will be added only during the working hours at the Visa Section at extra cost.

11. In case if there is a new addition to the passport and a valid Russia visa should be transferred from a cancelled passport there would be a minimum fee of a single entry visa collected by the Visa Section.

12. In case if a person has a new addition to the passport, but the supporting documents for a Russian visa were issued according to the cancelled passport data, at the moment of submission an applicant should carry along to the Visa Section his/her cancelled passport or there should be the data of the previous passport in his/her new passport, a new addition to the passport, the invitation documents with a cancelled passport number and all the other supporting papers.

13. A citizen of a foreign country (non ľ Indian citizen) can submit his/her documents for a Russian visa at the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Mumbai only providing that he has an Indian residence permit or a long-term Indian visa, according to which he/she had stayed not less than 6 months in the territory of India.

For a business, cultural, sport and scientific visas:

1. The official invitation issued by the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation on request of a Russian receiving organization / company in original only sent to an applicant by post or courier. Faxed and scanned copies are not accepted.

2. One passport size photo (3x4 sm.) with light background.

3. Filled in and duly signed visa application form (A completed visa application form (one per person).áMust be completed on Web portal https://visa.kdmid.ru).

4. Valid Passport (should be valid at least for 6 months after expected visa expiry date) with two empty (without any stamps, messages, etc.) pagesá facing each other.

5. For a single entry visa a confirmation of booking an air ticket (e-ticket, itinerary) is required.

6. A duly filled payment slip, which is collected at the Visa Section at the moment of submission.

Maximum period of validity of a single entry visa is three months.

For a tourist visa

1.Theoriginal tourist/hotel voucher issued by a Russian tourist agency/hotel, which is registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairsá (MFA) of the Russian Federation containing the necessary data of a traveler (name, date of birth, etc.), period of stay (date of entry and departure), name of receiving Russian travel agency, list of services paid for (transportation, accommodation, sightseeing, etc.), signed by a representative of the tourist agency, stamped with the agency's seal and bearing an official MFA reference number. Faxed and scanned copies are not accepted.

2. The original hotel confirmation Faxed and scanned copies are not accepted.

3. Original return air tickets.

4. One passport size photo (3x4 sm.) with light background.

5. Filled in and duly signed visa application form (A completed visa application form (one per person).áMust be completed on Web portal https://visa.kdmid.ru).

6. Valid Passport (should be valid at least for 6 months after expected visa expiry date) with two empty (without any stamps, messages, etc.) pagesá facing each other.

7. A duly filled payment slip, which is collected at the Visa Section at the moment of submission.

Maximum period of validity is one month.

Tourists who are travelling on board a cruise liner can stay in the territory of the Russian Federation without a Russian visa within 72 hours on the following terms:

  • Overnight stay should be obligatory on board a cruise liner only (not at any hotel/a guest house).
  • A list of passengers should be submitted to the authorities of a Russian port in advance (72 hours before the arrival of a cruise liner to a Russian port). The name of the passenger concerned is to be obligatory included in the above mentioned list.
  • The passenger should have with him/her a document, which identifies his/her personality and is considered to be legal in the territory of the Russian Federation.
  • The passenger may go sightseeing in the territory of the Russian Federation only within the limits determined by a group tourist program of the cruise.

For a student visa:

1. The official invitation issued by the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation on request of a Russian university / educational organization in original only sent to an applicant by post or courier. Faxed and scanned copies are not accepted.

2. The HIV test certificate (may be taken at any medical institute).

3. One passport size photo (3x4 sm.) with light background.

5á Filled in and duly signed visa application form (A completed visa application form (one per person).áMust be completed on Web portal https://visa.kdmid.ru).

6. Valid Passport (should be valid at least for 1,5 year after the first day of the visa validity) with two empty (without any stamps, messages, etc.) pagesá facing each other .

7. A duly filled payment slip, which is collected at the Visa Section at the moment of submission.

For a work visa:

1. The official invitation issued by the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation on request of a Russian receiving organization / company in original only sent to an applicant by post or courier. Faxed and scanned copies are not accepted.

2. The HIV test certificate (may be taken at any medical institute).

3. One passport size photo (3x4 sm.) with light background.

4. Filled in and duly signed visa application form (A completed visa application form (one per person).áMust be completed on Web portal https://visa.kdmid.ru).

5. Valid Passport (should be valid at least for 1,5 year after the first day of the visa validity) with two empty (without any stamps, messages, etc.) pagesá facing each other.

6. The confirmation of booking an air ticket (e-ticket, itinerary) is required.

7. A duly filled payment slip, which is collected at the Visa Section at the moment of submission.

Maximum period of the visa validity is three months.

For a transit visa:

1. A valid visa of the destination country in the passport of an applicant.

2. Original air tickets to Russia and from Russia to the destination country (for all routes where Russia is concerned).

3. One passport size photo (3x4 sm.)á with light background.

4. Filled in and duly signed visa application form (A completed visa application form (one per person).áMust be completed on Web portal https://visa.kdmid.ru).

5. Valid Passport (should be valid at least for 6 months after expected visa expiry date) with two empty (without any stamps, messages, etc.) pagesá facing each other .

6. A duly filled payment slip, which is collected at the Visa Section at the moment of submission.

Maximum validity period comprises:

  • 72 hours for a journey by airplane
  • 10 days for a journey by train/bus/car

Transit visa is not required in case if a person does not leave the territory of the airport of arrival, joins the connecting flight at the same airport and the time period between the two connecting flights does not exceed 24 hours.

For a private visit visa:

1. The official invitation issued by the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation on request of a receiving person /relative/friend in Russia in original only sent to an applicant by post or courier. Faxed and scanned copies are not accepted.

2. For a single entry visa a confirmation of booking an air ticket (e-ticket, itinerary) is required.

3. One passport size photo (3x4 sm.) with light background.

4. Filled in and duly signed visa application form (A completed visa application form (one per person).áMust be completed on Web portal https://visa.kdmid.ru).

5. Valid Passport (should be valid at least for 6 months after expected visa expiry date) with two empty (without any stamps, messages, etc.) pagesá facing each other.

6. A duly filled payment slip, which is collected at the Visa Section at the moment of submission.

Maximum period of validity of a single entry visa is three months.

For a seaman visa

1. The seaman employment contract in original only with the name of the vessel, exact designation of an applicant and a period of the employment. The contract should be signed by an applicant and the owner of the vessel. Faxed and scanned copies are not accepted.

2. The seaman book.

3. Valid passport (should be valid at least for 6 months after the first day of the visa validity) with two empty (without any stamps, messages, etc.) pagesá facing each other.

4. A letter of guarantee from a Russian shipping agent. Can be a faxed or a scanned copy.

5. A letter of confirmation of the seaman employment from the Indian counterpart in original only. Faxed and scanned copies are not accepted.

6. Original air tickets.

7. One passport size photo (3x4 sm.) with light background.

8. A duly filled payment slip, which is collected at the Visa Section at the moment of submission.
